The CPOP program approaches student learning using adult-learning principles with a focus on building skills, knowledge and attitudes in relation to gerontological experiences.

The reflective workbook is designed to deepen placement experiences and facilitate enhanced learning while working towards assessments for the semester. It facilitates analysis and reflection on the complex role of the RN with structured activities supported by a student鈥檚 clinical facilitator. 

The workbook is a flexible resource, providing choice of activities and capacity to modify how it is used, promoting collaboration between facilitators and students.

Students are invited to submit their workbooks for consideration for a prize, and are judged on the following criteria.

• Reflection on gerontological content and clear application/translation to student鈥檚 practice

• Demonstration of person-focussed care, with student insights in relation to assumptions, values, beliefs, biases, diversity, equity 

• Clear articulation of reflective practice (e.g. feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, action plan) demonstrating critical thinking

Each University site chooses how many winners there are, and when the prizes are awarded based on their site.
