In this unit students will commence an individual supervised research project in nursing comprising identifying a clinical problem using evidence based inquiry, a literature review, and a research plan. The project will be conducted within appropriate ethical guidelines and the topic will reflect the mutual interests of supervisor and student.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Undertake a literature review to identify a clinical problem;
2. Define an evidence informed research question for investigation; and
3. Develop a research plan to address the research question (eg design, data collection, analysis, dissemination) to a standard acceptable to the nursing profession.
