In this unit, you will begin work as a student journalist for The Owl, publishing stories online, on social media, and on 兔子先生FM. You will build confidence in public-facing aspects of journalism, such as interviewing and presentation, and you will begin generating networks of contacts and story ideas. In researching your stories, you will draw information from official sources as well as from everyday members of your community, considering how to use both to produce credible stories that inform your audience. Throughout the process, you will build and apply foundational knowledge about legal and ethical frameworks that govern journalistic practice.

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Produce accurate and trustworthy reporting by gathering, verifying and synthesising information from a range of sources;
2. Create engaging multimedia stories about people and issues in the community, centred around substantial interviews;
