This unit engages students in advanced critical analysis of emerging and priority areas for research and practice of psychology (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, ageing). It directly addresses cultural competence and the understanding of ethical and professional issues central to ensuring best practice in psychology.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Evaluate and apply the relevant codes of ethics and guidelines as they relate to conducting research and the professional practice within the discipline of psychology;
2. Demonstrate cultural competence as it relates to research and professional practice within the discipline of psychology; and
3. Critically evaluate research in emerging areas of research and practice in psychology.
