This unit provides the student with an opportunity gain professional experience in the field of strength and conditioning within an appropriate organisation. Students will source and complete a minimum of 20 hours observation and 60 hours of coaching experience as it pertains to delivery of strength and conditioning programs. Students will be required to complete the observational hours successfully prior to undertaking the coaching hours. Students will be aligned with a suitably qualified mentor within the placement and will undertake a competency-based assessment on the design and delivery of training programs. Coaching Ethics will be delivered to reflect on during placement.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Implement ethical and lawful responsibilities associated with the strength and conditioning coaching profession;
2. Appraise peer coaching styles and program delivery based on observation;
3. Conduct assessments, to inform program design and program and delivery in a relevant area of strength and conditioning, under supervision; and
4. Create, deliver, monitor and reflect on training interventions for delivery to an athletic population.
