Sat 12 Sept, 10am–3pm
As a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Student Mentor you will provide support to your new peers from day one. You will be a friendly face to connect with support, act as a guide, share your experiences for the first 8 weeks of your mentee’s semester.
You can expect to be connected to a network of likeminded people, access to specialty training and development opportunities, social events, exclusive mentor pack and invite to the Student Experience Awards.
We seek Mentors from all faculties, diverse lived experiences and at different stages in your education journey.
Here's a step by step view:
Apply to become a mentor in S2 2026 by 11 July 2026 via button below.
Your application will be reviewed, including a faculty approval check.
Successful applicants will be contacted to apply for a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Check and to complete the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Student Mentoring Agreement.
Attend a full-day, in-person training session. This includes two in-person modules and one self-paced online module.
Mentor-mentee matching will take place on Orientation Week. You will be matched with up to 5 commencing students based on your degree, shared lived experiences, interests and hobbies. As a mentor, you will meet your mentee weekly in semi-structured coffee catch-ups on campus or online through Weeks 1 to 8.
When I first joined ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú, I found it difficult to know where to go and how things worked, so having guidance really helped me. That experience inspired me to become a Student Mentor so I could support other students and share what I have learned. So far, I have mentored two students and enjoyed helping them feel more confident and settled at UC.
When I first moved from India I struggled to settle in and didn’t even know support like mentoring existed. I became a Student Mentor so that no one has to feel lost or alone during that difficult first phase.
I am mother of two children, so I am full-time mum as well as student. Having experienced the challenges of returning to study and adapting to university life as an international student and parent, I became a Student Mentor to support and encourage other students.
I became a Student Mentor because I first joined the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Mentor Program as a mentee and experienced how supportive the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Thrive team was in helping new students feel welcomed through mentoring, events, and trips, so I wanted to give that same support forward to new students.
We truly value the time, effort, and passion our mentors bring to the community. As part of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Student Mentor Program, you'll enjoy a range of exclusive benefits designed to recognise your contribution and support your personal and professional growth:
Becoming a mentor isn't just about giving back, it's an opportunity to grow, connect, and be recognised for your impact.
